Seven cultural artifacts, including the Daegunjubo royal seal that was repatriated from the U.S. in 2019, were designated state treasures.
According to the Cultural Heritage Administration(CHA) on Tuesday, they are King Gojong's four seals, the Joseon Dynasty Suwunjapbang cookbook, a set of Goryo Dynasty Buddhist artifacts and the Yenyeommitadoryangchambeop Buddhist ritual manuals.
The Daegunjubo, which was made in 1882, has a silver turtle handle and it was used in power of attorneys, written appointments, and legal documents.
All of the four seals were repatriated after they were taken by Japan and the U.S. during the 20th century.
The first cookbook to be named a treasure, the Suwunjapbang was created by an Andong-based Confucian scholar in the 16th century and passed down to his grandson. A total of 114 dishes, including 14 types of pickles and kimchi, are featured in the book.
