South Korea has completed the assembly of its first domestically produced rocket, called Nuri, and is making preparations for final inspections ahead of its scheduled launch in October.

The Ministry of Science and ICT said Tuesday that the flight model to be used in the actual launch was completed last Friday and preparations are under way for the wet dress rehearsal.

The rehearsal tests the launch vehicle in an extremely low temperature environment. It's called wet because liquid propellant components such as liquid oxygen are loaded onto the rocket during the test.

The rehearsal will take place anywhere from later this month to early next month depending on weather conditions and the stage of preparations. If there are no issues, it will go ahead as scheduled.

A test craft was successfully launched in November 2018, but the flight was delayed by about a month due to abnormal readings detected in the rocket propellant pressurization system during a wet dress rehearsal.
