S. Korea's Exports Grow for 10th Consecutive Month

Exports increased nearly 35 percent in August on-year, posting a record in monthly export volume.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said on Wednesday that outbound shipments grew 34-point-nine percent last month from a year earlier to 53-point-23 billion U.S. dollars, the largest amount ever recorded for August.

Average daily export volume hit two-point-31 billion dollars, also a record high for the month. 

With the latest figure, South Korea reported growth in exports for the tenth consecutive month since November last year. 

Cumulative exports in the January to August period stood at 411-point-nine billion dollars, surpassing 400 billion dollars in the shortest time ever.

Imports increased 44 percent on-year to 51-point-six billion dollars last month, with the nation logging a trade surplus for the 16th consecutive month.
