The Iraqi city of Kirkuk where South Korean troops are to be deployed is sending a delegation of officials and business leaders to Seoul early next month.

The invitation of the South Korean government has invited the 30-member delegation to discuss possible economic cooperation between the oil-rich city and South Korea.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said Wednesday the delegation will brief Korean officials on investment opportunities in Kirkuk.

During their stay in Korea, the delegation will hold an investment seminar and invite South Korean companies to participate in reconstruction projects. They will also tour industrial facilities.

Kirkuk located some two hundred-50 kilometers north of Baghdad is regarded as the logistics hub of northern Iraq with a convenient transportation network and large-scale oil deposits.
