Written: 2004-02-25 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

In Washington ... C-I-A Director George Tenet claims that North Korea is pursuing a production-scale uranium enrichment program based on technology imported from Pakistan.

Speaking to the Senate Intelligence Committee, Tenet said he is also concerned about North Korea's other weapons programs. He claimed that North Korea has long-standing chemical and biological weapons capabilities, and is enhancing its biological weapons potential as it builds its legitimate biotechnology infrastructure.

Tenet also condemned Pyongyang for trying to use its nuclear program as a bargaining chip against the U-S.

North Korea earlier denied the U-S allegation about the uranium enrichment program, calling it a "whopping lie."
