Seoul, Busan and Jeju Island are competing to host a meeting of Asia-Pacific leaders in Two-thousand-five.
A team of government officials and private sector experts have toured convention and accommodation facilities in Busan in their first survey of the bid cities' capability to host the annual economic summit.
The survey team will also tour Seoul and the southern island until Saturday.
Busan ... the nation's second largest city ... has unveiled plans to build a mammoth ultra-modern convention complex to host the 25-nation APEC summit on the scenic Dongbaek Islet near Haeundae Beach.
