A U.S. reconnaissance aircraft reportedly flew over the Korean Peninsula on Sunday amid speculation that North Korea is preparing for a military parade in Pyongyang.

According to aviation tracker Flightrader24, the Global Hawk was spotted over South Korea along the Military Demarcation Line in the capital region and Gangwon Province.

The Global Hawk, a high-tech unmanned drone, can detect objects on the ground as small as 30 centimeters in diameter while flying 20 kilometers high. Its performance nearly matches a spy satellite.

Its operations flight time is 38 to 42 hours and it has an operational radius of three-thousand kilometers.

The recent flight came after media reports that North Korea appears to be preparing for a military parade to mark the founding anniversary of the ruling Workers' Party on October 10.
