President Moon Jae-in has marked the 30th anniversary of the two Koreas joining the United Nations with a social media post.

Noting the occasion on Friday, Moon said that, by joining the UN, both sides took their first step towards dialogue and cooperation with the international community.

The president said four days after joining, which was the UN International Day of Peace, representatives from the two Koreas declared their participation in humanity's shared journey towards world peace and prosperity.

Emphasizing that there is still a long road ahead towards achieving complete denuclearization and the establishment of lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula, Moon said he hopes to secure support from all UN member states to back such efforts.
