President Moon Jae-in’s senior secretary for public communication says the next administration can hold a summit with North Korea if such a meeting is not realized during the incumbent administration's remaining term.

Park Soo-hyun made the remark on Wednesday during a KBS radio appearance.

He said the Moon administration will do its best in the remainder of his time in office to lay the foundation for an inter-Korean summit, adding that the current government has not set any summit goals for this term.

On whether there is a possibility that a formal end to the Korean War could be declared around the Beijing Olympics next February, Park said it was not appropriate to state specific points in time when making related assessments.
