U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has expressed concerns about North Korea's recent missile tests, saying that the international community needs to take them very seriously.
Blinken made the remarks to reporters on Thursday while visiting Pittsburgh for trade talks with the European Union.
Regarding the North's claim it tested a hypersonic missile, the U.S. top diplomat said that the U.S. is still evaluating the launch to understand exactly what technology was used.
Blinken said that the U.S. has seen repeated violations of UN Security Council resolutions that the international community needs to take very seriously.
He added that the U.S. envoy for North Korea is now talking to his South Korean and Japanese counterparts, engaging in very active conversations.
Blinken also reaffirmed that Washington supports inter-Korean dialogue in principle and it leaves that to South Korea as it looks to see if there are ways to move forward.
However, he added that Washington is concerned about these repeated violations of Security Council resolutions that create greater prospects for instability and insecurity.
