The nation's anti-disaster headquarters reports one hundred-twenty billion won in property damage after heavy snowfall in central provinces.

The snowfall forced the closure of some one thousand-four hundred schools across the nation Friday. Roofs over livestock stables and greenhouses for vegetable and fruits collapsed in Chungcheong and Gyeongsang Provinces. Nine thousand homes were left without power.

Some sections of the Seoul-Busan highway were closed to traffic for several hours as plows were kept busy, clearing snow late into the night.

The Korea Meteorological Administration forecast more snow for the eastern coastal regions and Ullung Island and the Dokto islets in the East Sea. The weather agency is advising caution for drivers as temperatures are forecast to plummet below zero overnight, icing over roads in central provinces.

On Friday, a record snowfall of 50 centimeters hit the central city of Daejeon, one hundred-60 kilometers south of Seoul. It was the heaviest March snowfall in the region since 1904, when the country began collecting weather data.
