Korean women celebrated International Women's Day, which falls on Monday, in a series of events across the country.

Korea's various women's associations held a rally on Sunday to mark the celebration, designated by the United Nations 20 years ago.

The day was chosen in commemoration of March 8, 1908 when American women laborers staged a demonstration calling for women's right to vote and to form labor unions.
