A memorial service will be held in East Timor Thursday to remember five South Korean soldiers who died there while serving as part of UN peacekeeping forces a year ago.

Bereaved family members and officials of the UN peacekeeping forces will attend the ceremony, in which the deceased will be posthumously honored with UN medals.

The five soldiers of the "Evergreen Unit" were killed in March 2003 after being swept away by flooding caused by heavy rainfall.
