8th UNEP General Meeting to Kick off in Jeju

The United Nations Environment Program is opening a special session of its governing council in Jeju Island next Monday.

The three-day meeting will bring together some one hundred-50 representatives and environmentalists from around the world.

A group of environmental and trade experts, U.N. officials and delegates from member nations will also meet in a separate environment forum on sustainable development.

Participants will discuss effective long-term environment programs as well as exchange views on the related roles of national governments and international organizations.

The event is the first UNEP conference to be held in South Korea as well as in Asia.
