South Korea will attend an annual session of the Inter-Amercian Development Bank (IDB) in Peru.

Vice Finance Minister Kim Gwang-lim is leading the South Korean delegation comprised of officials from the Foreign and Finance Ministries and the Bank of Korea.

The delegation will leave for Lima later this month for the 45th IDB general assembly set to take place from March 29th to the 30th.

South Korea is currently the most likely candidate to win a non-regional membership at the assembly, since it first showed interest in joining the bank in 1974.

IDB membership is regarded as a major gateway to expanding economic cooperation with South American countries.
