Beginning next month, the nation's national flag carriers will increase their international air fares by up to seven-point-seven percent.
The Ministry of Construction and Transportation announced a set of revised figures for international air fares on Friday.
According to the revisions, travelers on the Incheon-Manila route will have to pay seven point seven percent more from the current eight hundred-77 thousand won, or nine hundred-44 thousand won, for a round trip.
The fares on the routes to Beijing, Tokyo and Osaka will go up by three to five percent.
The new rules also impose restrictions on the baggage weight each passenger is allowed to register. Currently, passengers traveling to U.S. destinations can register up to two pieces of baggage, each weighing up to 32 kilograms, on their flight free of additional charges.
Under the new fare system, passengers may still register two pieces of baggage, but the luggage weight for each economy class traveler to a U.S. city cannot exceed 23 kilograms per piece of baggage. Any luggage exceeding the set weight will be subject to a 30 thousand won surcharge.
Meanwhile, the new regulations will offer a ten percent discount to travelers to Japanese cities in case their travel is completed within 14 days.
