An alliance of local civic groups is launching a campaign to bar the election of parliamentary candidates they deem unfit for office.

The alliance said in a news conference in downtown Seoul, they would announce on Tuesday, blacklisted candidates who will be targeted for their rejection campaign.

A spokesman for the alliance said their campaign is aimed at ousting corrupt politicians implicated in illegal funding scandals and those incumbent lawmakers who voted to impeach Pres. Roh.

Meanwhile, another group composed of 376 conservative groups is vowing to launch their own campaign against candidates whom they consider left-leaning and pro-North Korean.
