Trade Minister Hwang Doo-yun says South Korea's aid for Afghanistan will be confined to non-combat construction work.
Hwang said South Korea would continue to provide relief aid, but did not specify how much it would contribute to international efforts to help rebuild the war-torn nation.
Hwang made his comments in Berlin Thursday at the end of an international donors conference, in which eight billion dollars in aid was pledged for Afghanistan.
At a 2002 donor conference held in Tokyo, South Korea pledged 45 million dollars in aid.
Hwang also said Afghan President Hamid Karzai had thanked the South Korean government for helping stabilize the war-torn country.
More than 200 South Korean medics and engineers are serving in Afghanistan as part of global efforts to rebuild the country.
