Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk will visit North Korea to mark the April 15 birthday of the communist state's late founder, Kim Il Sung.

The North's official news agency KCNA announced Sihanouk's planned visit Saturday, but didn't give any other details.

Sihanouk said in a statement on his Web site Thursday that he will spend April and May in Pyongyang, where he maintains a residence.

Kim's birthday, called "Sun's Day," is one of the country's biggest national holidays. Kim died in 1994 at the age of 82.
