Suncheon City in the nation's southwest will play host to the 5th World Junior Taekwondo Championships from June 12th to the 18th.
It's the first time the biennial championships will be held in South Korea.
Some 1,500 athletes from 80 countries will be competing for 20 gold medals in ten divisions.
A number of cultural events, including Korean folk music and dance performances, foreign folk culture festivals as well as taekwondo demonstrations will also be held on the sidelines of the championships.
The venue for this year's event was finalized at the 16th general session of the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) in Germany last September.
The last championship was held in Greece in 2002 in which South Korea finished atop the medal tally with a total of 15 golds.
