April 19 Student Revolution Ceremony Held in Seoul

A ceremony marking the 44th anniversary of the April 19th Student Revolution was held at the April 19th cemetery in northern Seoul Monday.

With some 1,300 government and civic group officials in attendance, acting President Goh Kun spoke in tribute to the students and citizens who lost their lives while fighting for democracy.

One hundred-86 people were killed in the April 19th, 1960 pro-democracy uprising which toppled the government of Syngman Rhee, the first president of South Korea.
