Turkey says it supports Seoul's plans to dispatch additional troops to postwar Iraq.

Foreign Minister Abdullah G?l gave Ankara's backing for South Korea's planned troop deployment during a meeting with his South Korean counterpart Ban Ki-moon in the Turkish capital Monday.

G?l said there would be no problem regardless of the location Seoul decides to deploy its 3,000-strong Zaitun Unit, adding that Turkey would provide assistance in information and logistics if deemed necessary.

Ban's visit to Turkey is the first by a senior South Korean official since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1957.

Ban is scheduled to fly to Greece Wednesday.
