South Korea is hopeful that North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's recent visit to China could provide a breakthrough in the 19-month-old nuclear impasse.

Unification Minister Jeong Se-hyun says Kim's trip to Beijing has raised the possibility of progress in the next round of six-party nuclear talks.

Jeong added that it would take a few days for Seoul to learn the results of Kim's talks with Chinese leaders.

Meanwhile, Yonhap news agency quoted an unidentified, high-ranking U.S. administration official as saying preparatory working group nuke talks were projected to be held in Beijing next month.
