China and Russia have agreed on increased cooperation in seeking a resolution to the North Korean nuclear arms issue.

The agreement was reached in a meeting of Chinese and Russian foreign ministers in Moscow.

China's Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, pointing to the constructive role played by Russia and China in the six-party talks, said both sides need to continue to work together to negotiate a resolution to the nuclear impasse.

The two countries, however, have yet to settle on a date for the anticipated third round of the multilateral talks.

Li is currently in Moscow for a three-day visit and will attend a foreign ministers' meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Friday.
