U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell spoke with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing over the phone Friday on North Korean leader Kim Jong il's recent visit to Beijing.

State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said that Powell was briefed by Li on Kim's visit and that Washington understands from those briefings that the North Korean leader is still committed to the six-party nuclear negotiation process.
