Civic Groups Launch Relief Campaign for Ryongchon Train Explosion

Non-governmental organizations are coming together to help recovery efforts following a devastating train explosion in the North.
With the South Korean government set to ship one million dollars worth of relief supplies, a coalition of about 90 civic groups have launched a three-month-long fundraising campaign to help the victims of the disaster.
The coalition plans to hold a fundraising drive targeting business as well as individuals. The group said it will dispatch a five-member delegation to Dandong, a Chinese transit point for overland traffic to the North, to deliver the first batch of 300 million won worth of medical aid donated by its members.
The coalition will also create an Internet website for online donations and hold a news conference on Tuesday.
