North Korea has released its official tally of the damage caused by last week's devastating train explosion.
The North's official KCNA news agency said Monday that the train blast in Ryongchon near the Chinese border had killed at least 150 and injured some 1,300 in a two-kilometer radius of the blast site.
The report said that it has yet to confirm the number of missing from the train explosion, which it said was caused by the contact of electrical lines during the shunting of wagons loaded with fertilizer.
The news agency also said that the train accident had destroyed some 30 public buildings and 8,000 houses, adding that the blast gouged a 15 meter deep crater at the train station.
Meanwhile, North Korea's Deputy Ambassador to the UN, Kim Chang-guk, said property damage from the train accident amounted to 410 to 550 billion won.
