Amid international aid workers' pleas for further aid to North Korea, several foreign governments have pledged their assistance for victims of last week's deadly train explosion.

In Tokyo, the government announced plans to send 100,000 dollars worth of medical kits and burn treatment medicine, while Germany committed 100,000 euros worth of relief aid.

France also promised to provide 50,000 euros worth of relief aid and said it would transport medical supplies to the North through a French non-governmental organization.

Australia's Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer, said Tuesday that his country would contribute up to 250,000 Australian dollars and an extra three million Australian dollars in food aid to North Korea through the World Food Program.
