The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also fell, losing five-point-62 points, or zero-point-78 percent, to close the day at 712-point-52.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency, the South Korean won, strengthened three-point-seven won against the U.S. dollar, ending the day at one-thousand-318 won.
