The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) fell 44-point-05 points, or one-point-93 percent, on Thursday, closing the last trading day of the year at two-thousand-236-point-40.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also fell, losing 13-point-08 points, or one-point-89 percent, to close the day at 679-point-29.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency strengthened two-point-five won against the dollar, ending the day at one-thousand-264-point-five won.
