More than 1,200 industry representatives and technology experts from 65 countries gathered for a three-day "Broadband World Forum" in Seoul Monday to share their views on the latest developments in broadband technology.

Main sponsor KT Corp. said the event, organized by U.S.-based nonprofit organization International Engineering Consortium, also attracted some 40 technology giants, including Samsung Electronics, Siemens, Alcatel and Cisco Systems.

KT said the conference aims to provide an in-depth examination of broadband-related developments, deployments, challenges, services and applications with particular focus on the Asian market.

The event was first hosted by British Telecom in 2001.
