The South Korean Embassy in Baghdad has called on Koreans residing in the Iraqi capital to be on alert against possible kidnappings or car bombings targeting foreigners.

An embassy official said Monday that the embassy has been tipped through various channels that rebel forces in downtown Baghdad have plans to abduct foreigners or plant bombs in cars.

The official added that, in particular, restaurants near the Coalition Provisional Authority are feared to be the most likely targets of such attacks.
