A group of government officials has arrived in China's border city of Dandong to coordinate relief efforts in the wake of last month's train explosion in North Korea.

The group, comprised of five officials from the Unification and Foreign Affairs ministries as well as the Red Cross, arrived in the northwestern Chinese city near the North Korean border on Wednesday.

The group said that it had already asked Chinese customs officials to help speed up processing of South Korean relief supplies for quick delivery to victims of the Ryongchon rail disaster.

The government officials will stay in Dandong for a week before returning home on Tuesday.
