Bomb Explosions in Athens Trigger Olympic Worries

Written: 2004-05-06 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

In Athens, police say that three bombs exploded next to a police station in the Greek capital Wednesday.

The pre-dawn bombing, which came in succession within 30 minutes, caused serious damage to the police station.

No injuries were reported, but the bombs raised further security fears just 100 days before the Greek capital hosts the 2004 summer Olympic Games

The police and government say they saw no connection between the blasts and the Games. Investigators said their main line of inquiry was into local extremist groups.
