South Korea will deliver relief supplies to the victims of a train blast in North Korea via a land route for the first time.

The Korean National Red Cross said Thursday 20 trucks, loaded with 50 blackboards and 1,500 sets of school desks and chairs, donated by local chair manufacturer DuoBack Korea Co., will depart for the North Friday morning. The relief convoy will travel over a cross-border from Munsan in the South to Gaesong in the North.

The latest delivery is South Korea's fifth shipment of relief supplies for victims of the Ryongchon train blast.

The North Korean Red Cross agreed at the end of last month to accept South Korea's offer to send aid through a land route.
