Four-star Army General Grilled on Embezzlement Allegations

Military investigators have summoned and questioned a four-star Army general over allegations that he embezzled public funds.
A Defense Ministry official said that Deputy Commander of the South Korea-U.S. Combined Forces Command, General Shin Il-soon, returned home early Friday morning after undergoing overnight questioning.
General Shin is suspected of having misappropriated some 160 million won or some 129,000 U.S. dollars while serving as commander of a division and a corps in the past.
General Shin has denied the allegations brought against him.
It is the first time an incumbent Army general has been summoned on corruption charges.
