A South Korean delegation is in Beijing for working-level discussions to pave the way for a third round of six-way nation talks on North Korea's nuclear standoff.

After arriving in the Chinese capital, the delegation had bilateral consultations with Chinese and Russian delegations ahead of Tuesday's six-way meeting which also includes North Korea, the United States and Japan.

The delegation is also scheduled to have a trilateral session with officials from the U.S. and Japan.

The working group meeting comes two and a half months after the second round of higher-level six-party talks ended inconclusively in February. Member nations agreed to hold working group meetings ahead of higher-level talks to fine tune a number of technical issues.

South Korean officials said the lower-level talks would be carried out in a practical manner without a fixed agenda.
