North Korea says it would come up with new and innovative measures to solve its nuclear standoff if the United States abandons its perceived hardline stance on Pyongyang.
The Rodong Shinmun, the newspaper for the North's ruling Workers Party, made the comments in an editorial on Monday, one day ahead of the working group nuclear talks in Beijing.
The newspaper also said the outcome of the next round of six-party nuclear talks, aimed at resolving North Korea's nuclear standoff, depends solely on the U.S. attitude.
The paper went on to say that high-level nuclear talks will again fail to produce any result if the U.S. continues to insist Pyongyang first dismantle its nuclear weapons program in a complete, verifiable and irreversible way.
North Korea insists Washington offer compensation for its abandonment of its nuclear weapons program.
