Korean-American teenage golfing sensation Michelle Wie has been selected as 'Newcomer of the Year' by the Laureus World Sports Academy.

The 14-year-old wonder teen is the youngest golfer to win the honor.
Wie played seven times on the LPGA Tour last season, missing the cut only once.

Swedish golfer Annika Sorenstam was selected as the 'Sportswoman of the Year,' and Formula One driver Michael Schumacher won 'Sportsman of the Year' for the second time in three years.

The awards were selected in a vote by some 400 sports reporters from more than 70 countries and announced at the annual Laureus World Sports Academy prize-giving ceremony in the Portuguese capital of Lisbon on Monday.
