Military officials from the two Koreas are meeting at the Military Demarcation Line inside the Demilitarized Zone to discuss preparations for the first round of inter-Korean military talks.

A Defense Ministry official said Thursday that military liaison officers of the two sides are expected to focus discussions on the venue and procedure of the talks that are slated to take place on May 26 in the North's Mount Geumgang.

The official said Seoul had accepted Pyongyang's request for an open air meeting at the border since the two sides are expected to simply exchange their opinions.
