Written: 2004-05-19 00:00:00Updated: 0000-00-00 00:00:00

The parliamentary National Defense Committee will convene a full session Wednesday to discuss Washington's plan to redeploy 3,600 of its troops from South Korea to Iraq.

Defense Minister Cho Young-kil will be asked about the background of Washington's redeployment plan, and measures to fill a security vacuum to be created by the U.S. move.

Committee Chairman Chang Young-dal said he has accepted the main opposition Grand National Party's request for the convocation of the panel since the U.S. troop relocation is an issue directly linked to national defense.
