The Unification Ministry says a U.S. official visited the site of a devastating train explosion in North Korea's Ryongchon city on Monday and personally delivered relief supplies.

The ministry said it was the first visit by a U.S. government official to the North Korean city since the train blast on April 22nd, which left at least 160 people dead and 1,300 injured.

The official from the U.S. Agency for International Development visited Ryongchon via the Chinese city of Dandong to deliver medical supplies that can be used to treat 20 thousand patients for the next three months, as well as one thousand bed sheets.
