Korean Peninsula Forum to be Held In Washington

Preparations are underway for a forum of South and North Korean and U.S. lawmakers to discuss issues affecting the Korean peninsula.

Uri Party Rep. Lee Chang-bok said Friday that lawmakers from the two Koreas and the U.S. will be attending a forum for peace and security on the Korean Peninsula in Washington D.C. on July 20.

More than five members of the South Korean National Assembly from both ruling and opposition parties will attend.

About ten members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives, including Richard Lugar (D), chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will paticipate in the forum.

Rep. Lee said that the U.S. Korea Society, which is currently coordinating with North Korea, expects at least five members of the North's Supreme People's Assembly to attend the forum.
