The South Korean national soccer team has a new coach.

The Korea Football Association announced Sunday former Senegalese coach Bruno Metsu has been selected to head the South Korean national team.

The French native, who is currently the head coach of a United Arab Emirates' professional team, is replacing Portuguese Humberto Coelho.

Coelho resigned last month after a string of poor performances by the Korean team.

The 50-year-old Metsu led Senegal to the top eight during the 2002 World Cup.
