The tech-heavy KOSDAQ meanwhile edged up, rising zero-point-91 points, or zero-point-one percent, to close at 912-point-20.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened eight-point-nine won against the U.S. dollar, closing the day at one-thousand-324-point-nine won.
