Seoul is scheduled to host an annual meeting of the Asia-Pacific Group on Money Laundering (APG) later this month.
The Finance Ministry's Financial Intelligence Unit said Wednesday that the five-day meeting opening on June 14th will focus on techniques and trends of money laundering around the globe. The APG meeting - the 7th since its founding in 1997 - will also adopt a report on institutions and management systems implemented by countries around the world to prevent money laundering.
South Korea's delegate to the meeting plans to enhance the credibility of its government and financial organizations by actively explaining the system it has in place to prevent money laundering and the active efforts that are underway to ensure an advanced financial transaction system.
The 26-member APG aims to ensure the adoption, implementation and enforcement of internationally accepted anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing standards.
