A group of South Korean civic activists is pushing to file a petition with the Constitutional Court to stop the government from relocating the administrative capital outside of Seoul.

Lee Seog-yeon, an activist lawyer, said he and his fellow activists and lawyers are currently collecting signatures from those who could be adversely affected by the transfer of the administrative capital from Seoul to South or North Chungcheong Province.

Lee said the signature-collecting campaign will be primarily conducted among citizens and businesses in the Seoul metropolitan area. The petition is to be submitted to the court by July 17th.
