Top military officials from South and North Korea have convened for their second round of discussions on seeking ways to avoid naval clashes along the western sea border.
At the meeting being held at the South's Mount Sorak, the two sides are discussing proposals Seoul made at the previous round of talks late last month. Seoul is pushing for the establishment of a military hotline and the use of the same radio frequencies by patrol boats of the two sides as well as flag signals as means to prevent naval skirmishes.
Meanwhile, in Pyongyang, economy-related officials of the two Koreas have kicked off the second day of discussions at the 9th round of economic cooperation talks.
The two sides are exchanging views on what follow-up measures are necessary for the smooth operation of three major inter-Korean economic cooperation projects.
Those projects include the re-linking of cross border railways and roads, the construction of the Gaesong Industrial Complex, and flood prevention measures for the Imjin river, which flows southward across the inter-Korean border.
