The South Korean public may soon be able to greet a pair of black bears hailing from North Korea.

The Seoul Grand Park announced on Thursday that it had proposed to the Pyongyang Central Zoo a cross-border exchange of two Siberian tigers, one white and the other brown, from the South for two black bears from the North.

The black bear is native to Korea and is known as ban-dal-gom in Korean for a half-moon-shaped white marking on its chest.

A park official went on to say that the North had given a positive response to the idea, but that the related timetable and animals of the exchange have yet to be decided on.
