The government has unveiled its plan to provide more than 20 million U.S. dollars in overseas economic cooperation fund loans for Indonesia's project to set up a national crime information center.

The Indonesian project is aimed at connecting the nation's 30 regional police headquarters and 323 police stations with the main police headquarters to share information on various criminal cases.

A Finance Ministry official in Seoul said Friday that the government had finalized its decision to provide the loan for the project after carrying out on-site inspection and consultations with related government agencies.

The official anticipated that Seoul's provision of the loan would lead to a sharp growth in South Korea's exports of information technology equipment to the Southeast Asian nation.

Seoul has provided some 156 billion won in overseas economic cooperation fund loans to Indonesia since 1987.
